Privacy policy

Updated: October 27, 2026

Scope

This policy covers Curiosity Lab’s interactive content and services. Data processing varies by feature. Additional collection will be described on the relevant page and reflected in this policy.

Data processing

Some features run only in your browser. Features that save or aggregate results send participation records to the server. Records may include a random browser identifier, session ID, outcomes, totals and timestamps. There are no accounts, name or email requirements, or device fingerprinting. Random identifiers are pseudonymous, not fully untraceable.

Cookies and local storage

First-party cookies maintain anonymous sessions. The server-only lab_visitor cookie lasts up to 30 days. Theme and language preferences are stored in your browser. You may clear cookies and local storage in browser settings; previous records may then be unlinked, but clearing does not automatically delete saved server records.

Your language choice is stored for one year in the curiosity-locale cookie for future visits. Before a choice, the browser language is used; unsupported languages fall back to English.

Use and public display of records

Records restore progress, show results and history, produce summaries and prevent duplicate or abnormal submissions. Some results are displayed as “Anonymous”, with time and statistics but no browser identifier. Each feature’s page explains its grouping and retention rules.

Retention

Each feature retains or clears participation records as described on its page. Cumulative totals may be retained longer. Clearing browser storage does not automatically delete records on the server.

Third-party services and access logs

Google Analytics 4 may be enabled to measure page visits, traffic sources and feature clicks. Google’s script loads only on the enabled production site after you choose “Allow analytics”. Refusing does not affect the site. Change your choice under “Analytics settings” in the footer. If analytics is unconfigured, no control or script is shown. No ads are currently loaded.

Google Analytics may use analytics cookies and pseudonymous identifiers to process browser, device and approximate-region information. This is not fully anonymous. We send page details and predefined actions, without site visitor IDs, generated numbers, click coordinates or participation outcomes. Google Signals and ad personalization signals are disabled. Your consent choice stays locally until changed or cleared.

Google processes analytics data under the configured retention period and its policies. See Google’s privacy policyandhow Google uses data from partner sites. Servers and hosting providers may also keep access logs for maintenance and troubleshooting.

Policy updates and contact

We update this policy and its date as features or processing practices change. The site is hosted on Alibaba Cloud. Changes to operations or services will be reflected here with relevant processing and retention details.
